IDE Receiving Team Freeze Disposition Memo

Status: Internal freeze disposition memo Owner: BionicLoop engineering Last updated: 2026-04-07 12:32 EDT

Purpose

Capture the small set of receiving-team decisions still required before the IDE software packet can be frozen.

This memo is not a replacement for formal approval records. It is the engineering-prepared decision sheet intended to prevent freeze-time ambiguity.

Current Engineering Position

  • the current packet is the correct default reviewer-facing software packet
  • the minimum formal evidence set should remain:
  • STP-ALG-001
  • STP-AUTO-001
  • TV-SEC-001
  • STP-HW-001 and STP-ALERT-001 should run only if the receiving team decides those live/manual behaviors remain explicitly claimed at freeze
  • the current file export / file-sharing posture is acceptable only as an investigational baseline with explicit conditions, not as a production baseline

Unless the receiving team intentionally reopens broader scope, the recommended default answers are:

  • accept the current packet as the default review set
  • do not require STP-HW-001 for the current freeze
  • do not require STP-ALERT-001 for the current freeze
  • accept the current export/file-sharing posture only for the IDE investigational baseline, with explicit conditions
  • use the current branch head at the moment of disposition approval as the freeze candidate SHA if no further package changes are required before execution

Required Receiving-Team Decisions

1. Lean Packet Acceptance

Decision needed:

Recommended default entry:

  • decision: Accept IDE_Software_Packet/README.md as the default reviewer-facing software packet for the current IDE baseline.
  • owner: Receiving quality/submission lead
  • date: fill at acceptance
  • notes: Use the larger /Users/jcostik/BionicLoop/Docs/Quality/ library as background/support material only unless additional scope is intentionally reopened.

2. Hardware Claim Scope

Decision needed:

  • confirm whether any live hardware-only behaviors remain explicitly claimed and therefore require STP-HW-001

Default engineering recommendation:

  • if not explicitly claimed in the current packet, defer rather than rerun

Recommended default entry:

  • STP-HW-001 required at freeze: no
  • claimed behaviors retained: none by default; any live reconnect, interruption-timing, or device-surface claims must be explicitly re-added before this protocol is scheduled
  • owner: Receiving quality/submission lead
  • date: fill at acceptance
  • notes: Default to defer rather than rerun unless the packet text is intentionally expanded to claim hardware-only behavior.

3. Manual / Alert Drill Scope

Decision needed:

  • confirm whether any manual or system alert-drill behaviors remain explicitly claimed and therefore require STP-ALERT-001

Default engineering recommendation:

  • if not explicitly claimed in the current packet, defer rather than rerun

Recommended default entry:

  • STP-ALERT-001 required at freeze: no
  • claimed behaviors retained: none by default; manual/system alert-drill claims should remain deferred unless explicitly restored into the freeze package
  • owner: Receiving quality/submission lead
  • date: fill at acceptance
  • notes: Deterministic automated alert evidence remains in scope under STP-AUTO-001; do not widen the packet to manual drill scope without a specific claim need.

4. Investigational Export / File-Sharing Disposition

Decision needed:

  • record whether the documented investigational local export/file-sharing posture is acceptable for the IDE baseline

Primary support references:

Recommended default entry:

  • decision: Accept the documented export/file-sharing posture for the IDE investigational baseline only.
  • conditions:
  • formal TV-SEC-001 evidence is executed and promoted at the frozen SHA
  • the receiving team acknowledges the current baseline still includes automatic local CSV export into Documents plus UIFileSharingEnabled and LSSupportsOpeningDocumentsInPlace
  • this acceptance does not apply to a broader release baseline
  • any broader release requires hardening and a new acceptability review
  • owner: Receiving quality/submission lead with cybersecurity/regulatory concurrence as required by local process
  • date: fill at acceptance
  • notes: This is the engineering-recommended IDE position and should be recorded explicitly rather than implied by silence.

5. Freeze Candidate and Execution Ownership

Decision needed:

  • identify the freeze candidate SHA and the owners for the minimum formal execution set

Recommended default entry:

  • freeze candidate SHA: current branch HEAD at the moment this memo is accepted, provided no further behavior or package-scope changes are required before evidence execution
  • STP-ALG-001 owner: algorithm / bridge engineering owner
  • STP-AUTO-001 owner: app/runtime verification owner
  • TV-SEC-001 owner: software cybersecurity / local-controls owner
  • target freeze date: 2026-04-09
  • notes: If any code or controlled-document changes are required after acceptance, reopen the freeze candidate SHA and re-record it at the actual execution baseline.

Expected Outcome

Once this memo is filled, the remaining work should be execution and trace promotion, not further scope interpretation.
